Lockring came off

I tightened the cog with this: https://www.parktool.com/products/det...at=4&item=SR-1

I tightened the lockring with this: https://www.parktool.com/products/det...=25&item=HCW-5

I got them as tight as I reasonable could. I start off on a ride this morning going down hill and I'm applying significant back pressure. All of the sudden, I feel the wheel slip and the cog has completely unscrewed itself. The lockring is hanging on the axl. How the hell did the lockring come lose if it's suppose to spin the opposite direction to untighten? Better yet, are there other tools I could use to perhaps get a higher level of torque?

damaged threads. loctite will fix that, but you'll pretty much need a new hub if you want to change cogs.

You don't say what your components are. Lower quality components can lead to problems.

You stripped the lock ring. Locktight and rotafix your cog. Let it set for day and locktight the lockring. Use the good locktight and make sure every thing is cleaned with brake cleaner first.

The ACS freewheel was just a bit too loud for my tastes on the test run. I think it'll go in the drawer until a project comes up that needs it.

I'm running an ACS claws freewheel... not the highest quality but after reading a few threads on BF I get the feeling it will last me a while.

Nothing wrong with the ACS for what it is, a cheap BMX freewheel, but it's loud when coasting and can kind of clunk when pedalling. Nothing to worry about, just irritating.
