I am originally from Toledo. Away to Columbus for college now. Can't say I enjoy either city all that much. Your profile says you are from Cleveland. Are you in Toledo for college?

    toledo riders

Maybe all the Ohio outcasts could link up for a ride somewhere. I know this is hard to do with varying schedules but. Why not try? Any Takers?

    Toledo riders

We are all equal opportunity abusers here. SS/Fixed Only one gear and no excuses. The exception being flip/flop hubs allowed by special dispensation.

TOSRV (Tour of the Sciota River Valley) Huge turnout each year. Columbus to Portsmith 100 miles 1st day, turn around and do it again to get home. There is a website for the ride.

Super friends with a guy that has ridden it a couple times (once myself) that tells the story of a very young Frankie Andreau (former 7-Eleven, Motorola, USPS pro) being motorpaced from the start to the finish and back again in the first day.

I paid up for last years TOSRV and the day before it was supposed to happen I came down with a viral infection in my upper respiratory system. The Doc said not to do the ride if I wanted to live a long and happy life. Sigh! I was out the entry fee as no refunds at that late date. The weather was crappy as usual for that ride, and I am kind of glad I didn't do it. I had the Peugeot PX-10 with a 71/63 f/gear inch flop/flop all set up and raring to go. I wish they had a late registration sign up thing with an appropriately increased fee that would allow you to hedge your bets on the weather. I hate long rides in the rain.

The year I rode it I did it with the Findley club (Hancock Handlebars). Since that time the hotel we (and many others) stayed in has closed. I really don't like the idea of sleeping on a gym floor.

Any other alternatives around there for sleeps?

I'm trying to convince that scenic Portsmouth would be lovely at that time of year, thereby providing a reason for her to drive my van to the area and thereby avail myself of sleeping arrangements. No luck so far.

I don't know if I am really in the shape to do it either, but the sleeping arrangement is the biggest reason why I probably won't. I would not sleep at all on a floor with others around and I wouldn't be able to ride back the next day.

Maybe next year when I am better trained and can find a hotel in advance.

I'm amazed at the skill of those BMX guys. I sometimes watch the X-Games on the tube and see the guys do incredible things in the air. The only way I could keep a bike up in the air that long, is to fill the tubes with Viagra.

AHHHHH bmx. For years and years we dreamed of a park in the toledo area. none to be found. The Scott P opens one in the Cleveland area(chenga world).
Fun times were had, I move to Boston and then 6 years later I hear that there is a cement park about to or has opened in toledo. Just peachey.

Here in Bowling Green, there is a 13.5 mile long straight, flat bike path. 27 miles out and back, 2 miles from home base to the head. that make a 31 mile total ride. Anyone care to do that one with me as weather gets warmer? I just have to say, i'll be a little slower than others due to my lower gearing handicap

Sounds about the same as me with skateboarding. 15 years of being chased and arrested by the police. Now that I can't do it anymore there's a skatepark in every mall and they're using the "skateboarder image" to sell everything from cheerios to deodorant. I despise the uber commercialisation of all things good...one reason I'm afraid of fixies going mainstream. I just don't like advertising agencies taking integral pieces of my life like my old skateboard or my fixie and twisting them and marketing an image and piggybacking some dumbass product. Yeah, I'm a bit bitter. But when the Ramones are selling cars and Devo is selling the swiffer I get a little sensitive.

Think how I feel every time I get into an elevator and have to listen to Beattles music on Musak. To think that the cultural revolution of the 60's has come to that. Truly horrifying.
