What makes a good Polo Bike?
I tried the search function but I couldn't find a whole lot about this particular question-
A group of local folks has started playing Bike Polo on a weekly basis. I'm looking for a beater bike to ride so I can play too but I'm not sure what to look for in a polo bike?
I'm thinking a single speed w/ coaster brake would be good. I've heard that it's easy to destroy wheels (I assume the mallets stick in the spokes sometimes?) so is there any way to reduce the risk of this? I think flat bars or radoneuring bars would be superior to bullhorns/drops/mustache/etc. bars.
Any seasoned Bike Polo Veterans want to share any advice about how to set up a reasonable polo bike? Thanks in advance.

Huge gear inches for quick acceleration and stopping. I run a Phil 22 tooth in the back and a 42 in the front. Risers or flat bars are good, nothing to impale people with. A strong wheelset is a good idea. You will break spokes. A wheel cover is a good idea for that reason as well as goal defending. You also dont need much, if any saddle to bar drop. No need in being aero.

Risers, a nice & easy gear ratio, cardboard spoke covers, and loosen the straps on your pedals up so you can easily take your foot out incase you are falling.
