track geo is easier to skid with?

Okey, ive been trying to figure that out for a while now. I got a 80's roady frame, Nishiki. its nice, its just as tight as a track frame, but...

Every time i try a real track frame its a different story. track frames skid so much easier,is it because of the head tube angle?

I tried my friend maddison and my other buddies pista. All you gotta do is lean just a bit forward its like butter, while my frame is tons of fun to ride but its a bit of a drag to try to skid on it.

Can some one open my eyes on it?

My guess its the head tube angle that makes all the difference.

Heres my frame:

fork rake, headtube angle, and a big dose of placebo

thats what it seems to be to me as well. Infact my fork was pretty close to that maddison fork, so im thinking its the headtube angle the most.

i gotta still try the placebo

Seat tube angle also factors in. It's not a placebo at all, it's because more of your weight is already forward thanks to the inherent geometry of the frame. Seated skids on slack road conversions are knee busters, but on a track bike it comes easily.

Also the shorter wheelbase of a track bike allows you to shift the weight bias forward with relative less body language.

Also what gearing are your friends bikes running? Cause they might be running lower gearing compared to yours making it easier to skid.

So, this would lead me to conclude that your Nishiki's geometry is not 'as tight as a track frame'.

Oh, but I actually like how you put your bell on the seatpost.

It's also easier to get laid with a track geo too

Next Project: top tube bell array, one button, 12 bells.

yeah you guessed it . track is mostly steeper angles that allow more weight forward.....So, well ,, skids flow

i've found that this setup gives you the best leverage for skids.

i meant it shouldn't be that much harder to skid on your road frame than a track frame and that it was probably mostly a placebo effect.

Placebo mean you "think" its easier to skid because youre on a track frame. When in reality its the exact same, but because you think itll be easier on a track frame, it is.
