Mark V or Dawes SST

Yes, two very different bikes, but i would like to know which one i should get. I've been riding a terrible schwinn traveler single speed conversion of sorts, and the fork was recently annihilated, and seeing as i now have the money to buy a new bike, i've narrowed it down to these two. I've got a friend who owns an iro angus, and he thinks im an ass for considering spending an extra 200$ on a mark v, when i could spend 330$ on an sst. Is it worth the extra 200$? Is a mark V much better than a dawes sst?

Well.... probably. Except the Mark V isn't 200 more than the sst. Mark V is 569, plus shipping. That is 240 more, plus shipping which would be around $30.

Of course the MarkV is much better. It now says it uses deddaccai tubing, and pretty much all the other components are better. If you have cash and want a serious bike (meaning you know you like riding SS/FG get the IRO.

Anyone know when Mark V's started getting made with deddaccai tubing? Is there a sticker? I bought mine this past summer (end of July-ish).

What's this deddaccai tubing? Is it the thicker somewhat bladed top and downtubes? I'm curious!

nothing but love for my Mark V

I love my mark v.

the best part of a mark v is it's nice, but not fancy. It's not the type of frame you keep looking pristine and beautiful, I don't mind mine getting scratched up, and am not scared to slap stickers on it. good frame. plus the IRO will come with way better components and a nice wheelset.

I was weighing getting a pista or an IRO. I realized I could get the IRO the exact way that I wanted for less money than it would cost to upgrade the pista.

I think it omes down to what you want to upgrade in the future, you will def. get some more mileage out of the iro's better parts spec. so may end up spending less in the near future. the upgrade bug is a *****.
