I want to upgrade from my conversion and wonder if anyone has ridden both of these and what would you get. I could wait and maybe afford a Bare Knuckle but sooner is better.

Steamroller is heavier and burlier, more road-bike feel, with room for bigger tires and fenders. Rush is a steep-geometry track frame, much lighter and 'swift' feeling, the tubing is light and springy so it's a bit nicer on rough roads than the geo would lead you to believe

Very different bikes - pick what you want, comfy and practical or zippy and quick

soma rush definitely.....lighter steel....best taiwan bike out there.....save your money for that bareknuckle though...its only like 2-3 hundred more...or maybe a torelli corsa pista(which is what im investing in) or a marinoni....italian steel baby....f anthything else(cept keirin)

im looking at a rush now too, but i have a dilemma: bikeisland.com SE premium brew frame for $300 w/ fork or soma rush frame for $400 w/ out fork. also ill probably be using the bike i build w/ the frame for my main transportation around town, everyday use on roads, etc. etc.

I've been riding the Soma for a few months now and I must say I greatly enjoy the ride-- the geometry is steep and it feels quick, but with the right setup it deals pretty well with the rough roads.. I can't say I've ridden the steamroller for comparison, however.

I have a Rush and am loving it. It eats up the potholes in Tucson. Never rode a steamroller though.
I have received a lot of good comments on it from other riders as well.

I like having a relaxed geometry, beater bike (Steamroller) and a nicer track geometry bike (Broakland Pipe Bomb) because some days I want to ride really aggressive and sometimes I want a more relaxed ride where I can get away with being sloppier. You can't get away with as much on a track geometry bike and it requires more focus (at least for me but I'm still getting used to the Pipe Bomb) but sometimes that really great.

Go with an Alien, seems like these bikes get no love in the fixed gear community but personally I think they look amazing. I have not ridden one but might get one for next summer.
