Frame compatibility
I've been really needing a smaller frame all summer and bikeisland just got the kilo frames back in.
My current bike is built around a 56 cm Bridgestone 200. Here's the specs...
Bridgestone 200
Cast off Bianchi steel fork with an Ultegra headset
Shimano 600/Mavic Open 4 CD wheels (700C) with a Surly fixed/fixed hub
Shimana 600 cranks (172.5)/Ultegra BB with 42x14 gearing and SRAM chain
TTT bars and stem
Will the crank, headset and bars, and bottom bracket all work with the kilo frame?
I'm like 5'8"-5'9", would dropping down to the 50 cm kill be too much you think?

Hello- for the headset/fork/stem it depends on if they are threaded/threadless and 1" or 1 1/8"
For sizing- 50cm sounds way too small. I would say you are more like a 54-56cm. Keep in mind your Brigestone geometry is probably very different so it isn't apples to apples comparison with size. Hope that helps a bit. We also have frames in all sizes cheap if you are interested- check our website.

The Bridgestone frame is 56 center-to-center and my stand over is really tight. My feet touch the ground but theres is no clearance between me and the top tube.

I can only vouch for our frames- which use a slight sloping top tube for clearance and a more comfortable position. On ours (our sizes run odd) I would say 55cm would be fine.
To be fair you asked about the Kilo frames and they jump from 53 to 57 with no in-between. For them 53 would be the only option- but it may feel a bit small.

the 50cm is about 53c-t. you are probably in between a 50 and 53. a 56 c-c on your Bridge is probably a tad too large for a 5 foot 8. I shoot for a 54c-c, and adjust my stem according to top tube variations.

Hmmm so the 53cm Kilo frame is about 55cm C-T ? I feel like I won't be doing any harm by going with either the 50 or 53. The 53 is still a touch smaller and because the Kilo has a tighter geometry it might work out in the end.
