Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Vanillas dropouts have to be some of the most beautiful bike art I've ever seen. They're just incredible. I want one of the bikes just for that, really, so sexy.

I like those, they're nice and durable/elegant looking. Refined Utilitarianism.

true, but then you actually have to scrap up enough cash for the dastardly "down payment". plus, im eating lots of peanut butter, which means ill be much too big by the time the bike actually comes my way. its a cruel world, seriously.

I thought this thread was ridiculous. . . until I saw the Vanilla pics. My, that does look pretty sweet! Make mine plain, ol' Vanilla!

-that stuff is in it's true element.....being leered at on the internet.

From there it's all downhill, via the mantlepiece, or hanging in a heated double garage with the other status toys.

Give me something beautifully spartan and functional. Plain and strong. No extraneous frills. Designed for purpose.

...kinda like a single speed bicycle.
