Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Love my new Schwinn Madison

Just bought my first single speed...this is fun! Hit the Performance site ans saw they were $455., then applied a coupon code for additional 10% off. Printed the page, went to my local Performance shop, and they gave me additional "rebate" off of $50....how damn sweet is that!

Inaugural ride in fixed gear yesterday...wow, there is a learning curve and now have great respect for you fixie riders..especially in traffic. More riding is on for today, but think I'll switch the hub over to freewheel. Initial thoughts on bike: smooth as butter, silent, excellent riding position, Selle seat killed my ass, paint and chrome is flawless, a well thought out bike...good job Schwinn.
