Los Angeles Riders

Next fall I might be making a move from Brooklyn to the west coast for grad school at UCLA. I've never been to LA, but I feel like I'll be going from paradise to hell in terms of riding. Am I right to feel that way? Anyone commute to UCLA by bike?
thx

i dont live in the UCLA area, but i have visited it a bunch of times (my friend goes to LA). There are a decent amount of cyclist riding around at night, not to sure about daytime though.

seems counter-intuitive at first, i had never expected LA to be a good bike city. it's not exactly a bike-friendly place but LA has a fixed community (lafixed) and it's the only place i know of that has something like midnightridazz.

That area is full of jammed barely moving traffic which is for good for bikes. Although, I think Wilshire Blvd & Westwood Blvd intersection had the most regular volume of cars in a afternoon than any other intersection in the USA. Depending on where your going to live but riding a bike to UCLA isn't too bad and well worth it with the really bad traffic and scarce parking in UCLA area.

UCLA is pretty bike friendly, and the surrounding Brentwood area is awesome for fun hill rides in the evening. Wilshire/Sepulveda can get pretty gnarly so pay attention to all the idiots. And yes, I think you have paradise and hell mixed up. Come enjoy living on the Left Side.
