Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? and like i said earlier, it may be practical, hell it may even be better to use a f6cking drop/hood setup on a fixed, even if they're ghost levers, anything for comfort. i JUST said I DON'T like how one hood LOOKS.

you know, this thread made me realize something: Person A runs hoods on his/her fixed, and Person B doesn't like it. Person A rides on the hoods for comfort, and Person B tell A that it's wrong because the extra hood doesn't do anything. Therefore, fixed gear and tarcking has nothing to do with comfort.

How can you hate hoods? They're one of the best things about drops.

i think you should cut the ends of the bars a little bit. since when riding in the drops hands don't usually stay all the way on the straight part. maybe you could just flatten them out and i would like it more. looks pretty darn good though!

Can we get back to bikes please?
i cant help but to think you should have the stripes on both sides. im sure you have considered it and decided against it for one reason or another, i just cant figure out why.

well it looks awkward from the top when it has stripes on both sides because they turn into arrows.

plus i like that it is different on one side than the other.

if that was my bike....

get real bars, reduce that insanely long steerer tube, black chainring bolts, tires too.

nothing wrong with a rack, sometimes fixed gears can be functional too

Apart from the seat it looks good. Replace it with something classic from Selle San Marco, a Concor or Regal (the new titanium one has silver studs so their usual copper ones won't clash with your shiny silver bits).

The saddle is a bit to new for the era of the bike so I ould second the saddle swap. I would alot rotate the bars a bit so the drops are level with the ground. Looks better in my opinion. But hey, its your bike, not mine.

When you're actually riding the bike though, the saddle becomes much less noticeable. Generally, I don't care what saddle people run, as long as it's right for them. Same for little things like bar angle. Bike fit (assuming it's not like, an uber small or large frame for the rider) doesn't really play a role for me in judging how a bike looks, unless its a wall piece.

The Raleigh is beautiful. It's pretty much a full DA setup... what else could you ask for? Probably sees extensive track use too.
