Fixed Gear Wheelset Experts ENTER!

Looking to get my 1st fixed gear wheelset and I dont wanna get ripped. I found a CL ad:
"vintage campy wheelset 28h front and rear
with a deep v back wheel and a campy front rim(omas hub)"

worth purchasing and if so, for how much.

I really appreciate all the input, thanks in advance

peabodypride 11-28-08 02:51 PM

Is the rear hub actually a track hub? That description is very convoluted.

illenvillain 11-28-08 02:57 PM

i think so, because its his back up wheelset for a fixed gear

illenvillain 11-28-08 03:11 PM

anyone?

urban_assault 11-28-08 03:16 PM

Link? Pics?

What in the seller's asking price?

Not enough info.

illenvillain 11-28-08 03:17 PM

thats all the desription, and it says best offer

urban_assault 11-28-08 03:24 PM

Offer $50.

Contact the seller for more information. Vintage means different things to different people.

Otherwise look elsewhere.

Maybe that will help.

It sounds like you might not be sure what you are looking for so don't let the buyer tell you it's what you need. That much is for sure.
But... the front wheel might be a good thing if it's a good Campy hub and light rim. I got a front wheel like that from a geared bike dude and it is great.

It doesn't.

He doesn't tell you anything about this "vintage campy wheelset", either check it out in person or go email him for more info. If he can't describe what he's selling then move on.

Sure, OK.

I posted the link to show what little information was listed regarding the wheel set in question. I asked the OP about more info but I found the CL ad so others here would not have to keep asking the OP about it.

It was just funny that you were repeating what I said earlier. "Contact the seller for more info."

Lighten up. Just put me on ignore or something.

Urbanassault, don't let this guy get to you. He's the local BF martyr who carries the burden of answering bike questions for the poor huddled masses like us, slogging through trenches of emoticons to enlighten the less fortunate.

Thanks. It's cool. I've had operator on ignore for a while now.

When I saw his post, I was sure he was quoting me, so I had to look. Silly and stupid of me to do. Of course, everything I post is silly and stupid.

Oops, another emoticon...I'm in real trouble now.

To the OP, pardon this hijack. I hope you have been able to get more info from the seller on the wheels.
