Several weeks ago I read a post where a member used a hypodermic needle and syringe to squirt alcohol into grips to easily remove them. My man! Works effortlessly! No hassle whatsoever. Then, I sprayed new Ourys with hairspray and installed effortlessly and they stuck real good. I thank all for this very useful info.

I've not had luck with hair spray yet. Maybe because I did'nt the grips set for a sufficient amount of time, but the liquid never stuck.

I've found an even more interesting solution, didn't know about the hairspray thing. I was installing some longer grips on my MTB after removing the grip shifters, and I was having trouble squeezing the new ones on. Tried greasing both the grips and the bar up with 3-in-1 oil, but no progress. After thinking about it a minute to try and come up with an alternate solution, it occurred to me that there was some, ahem, "personal lubricant" around...

... those *******s slid right on.

I just dribble the alcohol directly onto the bars. Where the hell does everyone get their hypodermic needles for the needle trick?

Flat blade screwdriver and a can of WD40 BEFORE you lose the little red straw. Shove the screwdriver in between the grip and bar, then stick the straw in and give it a small blast. Can be used to install grips as well, never had a problem with grips taken off or put on with WD.

WD40 is what i use. The new WD40 bottles actually have the little red straw built in, it's quite handy.

I'll have to try the hairspray trick.

All of these suggestions sound good, but I always just use spit. Lick your finger, swab it inside the grip, and it slides right on.

Air compressor. No drying.

Although since there's no vent holes on the Oury grips, they are a bit trickier.

If you dont have an air compressor, spraying wd40 into the grip helps to easily install it. After a few minutes it will be solidly in place and rideable. Overnight, for sure.

Air compressor to remove, hairspray to install. You just gotta soak the inside of the grip with the hairspray and let it dry sufficiently (can depend on temp, humidity, etc). Overnight should be enough but I have had one experience where it had to dry for a full 24 hours before they were solidly gripped onto the bars.

I don't have an air compressor, so I just covered the other end of the bar with my hand and blew the grips on. It was pretty easy. Just make sure no one's watching or you might get some jokes about fellatio.

air compressor is pretty handy for lots of things if you can get your hands on one. does anyone else just cut grips off when they get new ones? i can't be the only one...
