Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Worth it? Advice needed!

I'm thinking of building up a 59cm Soma Rush... Basically upgrading from what I used to have just a notch. Then I came across this...

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170286445957

I like the cranks and wheels, and I'm not familiar with the seat but it's rad anyway. I would probably get a different stem and seat post, though.

It annoys me because it's a no-reserve, 5 day bid, so it's a waiting game (and I don't have $1,000 at the moment).

Worth it? He claims a Pake is basically a Soma Rush, but just 1/2lb heavier. That true? Anyone ever heard of Velocity Anniversary wheels?

Thanks ahead, and any alternative suggestions are welcomed...

Basically

from what i've gathered pake's are heavy but they're tanks and can take a beating.

it's got nice parts but i'd rather put a bike together myself for the price he's asking

I've priced out my build and with similar components (sure, some I might like more), it's gonna cost me about $1300ish... that's the only reason... I'm thinking if it only goes for like $700 or something I can sell what I don't want and replace it.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Frame geo is the same as the Rush. I doubt anyone is going to BIN, it will sell for 5-600, maybe more.

After searching ebay and online, I'm thinking I could part it out in it's entirety for $900.
$300- wheels/tires/tubes/dura-ace cog/lr (they are sweet bladed wheels, maybe i'd keep)
$250-frame/fork/stem/headset
$100-bars, track grips and ritchey stem
$100-omnium cranks and bottom bracket
$100-Brooks Swift saddle
$50- his pedal setup
$40- miscelaneous/the rest.

Sorry, I'm rambling. Those are honest prices- a pake w/ cane creek headset, carbon fork and nice stem would easily net $250... the wheels are self explanatory, as is the rest.

Anyway, I'm already nervous about it. Probably jumping the gun here, but I think it'd work. I'm just too impatient to wait it out.

hint for next time, don't put the actual listing from ebay on here since i'm sure someone here will be bidding on that now too. But best of luck and omniums rock, i'm in love with mine.
