BB recomendation for FSA carbon pro crank -

OK I treated myself to a new crankset since it was marked down drastically. $150 shipped. Its the FSA Carbon Pro: https://cgi.ebay.com/FSA-Carbon-Pro-T...3A1%7C294%3A50

So now I need a 108mm ISIS BB. My questions are: I need the 68mm English threading, right? (I have a Lemond Filmore). And... Here are some BB s I'm looking at:

https://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-STRONGLIGHT-...3A1%7C294%3A50

https://cgi.ebay.com/Crank-Brothers-C...3286.m20.l1116

https://cgi.ebay.com/New-VP-component...3286.m20.l1116

Are all 3 of these compatible with my Lemond Filmore and my new FSA crankset? Anything I'm missing here?

Yo, hope you didn't buy that crankset if you're riding on the street. The reason they're discontinued is because the right crank arm and the spider are actually two different pieces held together with a spline and special lockring. If you skid on them, the spline will strip and the cranks will develop play/slop, ranging from moderate to unusuable.

I would know; I am using them currently. Looking to get rid of em ASAP.

FSA, while being brave in engineering, sometimes makes mistakes. This is one of them; they released a new all-carbon version, which is why these are on clearance. My advice is to not buy.

That said, if you really want them, I might be getting new cranks over the holidays and can send you the proper BB for them for shipping.

interesting^ well, i don't skid on this bike, it has a brake. i know they had problems with the vigorelli crank. i read a lot of pretty decent reviews on this crank and you're the first unhappy one i've found. but i don't backpeddal or skid ever. maybe i'll just return them to be safe. the seller is wheeland sprocket, not the above seller and they are pretty good. hmmmm.

You can't go wrong with the Crank Bros. one. They look to all be the correct size. If you don't skid the cranks will be fine.

ok, then maybe i'll keep them. i did read a lot about them here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...+track+fsa+pro

and i noticed these newer ones are on the fuji track pro for the last couple years. but i don't skid at all on this bike and hopefully that will keep them from developing the play you got. These are the ones you have, right? not the vigorelli? thanks for the heads up.

i'm curious, why don't you backpedal/skid?

if it's because you're a newer rider, i'm willing to bet you will eventually.
even the old heads skip stop...

No, i'm not a new rider. i used to ride brakeless and i skidded everywhere and thought like you do. Admittedly my bikes look better without brakes, but thats it. A year ago I realized how much I missed going fast. I mean REALLY fast. Then I read an article by another fixed gear rider who made some changes to his bike so that he could once again go fast and i followed the same ideas: lighten the bike up, raise the gear ratio, get more aero with the seat-to-bars height, and... put on a brake. I did it too. I know some people may look at my bike and think that i'm a noob because it has a brake, I don't give a ****. I can ride my bike fast and they can't. I can haul balls down hills and not even think about slowing until the last moment. I don't have to pay attention to the "zen" of traffic and worry about lights, cars, doors, etc because at any moment I can go from 40mph to 0mph in a moment. It feels strange to have a brake again, but I love it. I can buy quality racing tires with low resistance and not replace them every 2 weeks. If I want to skid, i can... but for some reason, I don't. I'm over it. I'm not dissing on you for riding brakeless, I respect your decision. But I have made a different choice.

It makes alot more sense to always be anticipating and dodging threats before they happen than it does to rely on emergency stopping. That's borderline reckless IMO. Don't get me wrong I don't backpedal or skid often because it's **** on your knees but I'd rather be way out of the way of a flung open door than have to squeeze the **** out of my levers and hope I scrub enough speed before I close the gap.

But anyway, that's another topic entirely. Good luck with the cranks
