Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

um, tell us about a trek 7300FX, and we'll tell you bout the conversion. in short, it's truly all in the dropouts. horizontal drops are easy, verticals are easy too, now, but far more expensive b/c you need that white industries ENO eccentric hub thingie. (do a search at www.sheldonbrown.com to see one). to be honest, i wouldnt bother fixing the trek 7300FX if it fails to stir your soul or whatever it is that the best bikes do to ya. but, if you're into it, go for it.

Maybe a little of both? Sounds like a big case of the ChrisL guide to posting if I've ever seen one...
