Appraise my bike

Hey I'm having trouble deciding how much my bike is worth. You can read up on all the specs and condition of the bike on my craigslist posting: https://austin.craigslist.org/bik/1009344859.html

It's currently at $620, let me know what you think. Think I should try ebay?

Saw that up a little while ago. Decent price. Good luck with the sell.

Just a quick note on selling stuff.
That's ad is as scary as the one from the BBW Dom who's into clamps and mild strangulation.
Over $1100? About 1 1/2 years ago?
The bike is dirty and the chain is off. It sits beside an overflowing garbage can.
What is going on here? Do you even care about money?

Clean the bike up. Put the chain back on. Tell people you've got the receipt if you have it. Take photos that suggest that the bike isn't being held hostage and is about to be murdered.

I was trying to be as specific as possible, sorry..

That's ad is as scary as the one from the BBW Dom who's into clamps and mild strangulation.
I lol'd a little, then felt.. worried.

Dude. You're right! thanks for the criticism. The thing was in the shed and I just propped it up for some pics.

I'll fix her up a bit more and take some better pictures. Thanks.

My thoughts.

Front brake cable too long.
Where's the rear lever?
Take better pics. Make it ready to ride.
Nice rice cooker. Assuming you're Asian. hahaha.

I agree with the criticisms already posted... wipe her down with a damp rag to clean her up a bit and don't say anything negative about the condition in the ad. Once someone is at your house cash-in-hand they are a lot more likely to overlook a few scratches but posting about them on the intewebs will scare off potential buyers.

just my $0.02.

Err, I'm no marketting or sales expert but putting up a picture of your "pride and joy" next to an overflowing bin and with its chain hanging off probably isn't the best way to get peoples interest.

Clean it up (come on, it doesn't take too much time and effort) and go and pose it next to a nice lake or some trees.

You don't say what size the frame is. That is SO annoying when scanning CL ads. I don't want to have to ask you for info that should put in the ad.

Good pictures are a MUST as mentioned.
Pictures were a big factor in one of the bikes I sold. The buyer told me he came to look at it because of the pics. Put them on photo bucket with a link so people can see them big, (assuming they are good). Use a plain background without clutter. The pic of the crank is a good idea just make it look better. Go outside with much brighter light for better results. Shoot some other details as well.

I must repeat that the bike has to be rideable. I would not buy a bike I can't ride unless it's an awesome frame without components.

And sometime too much info is not good. Get rid of the negative crap.

Thanks again guys.

Also, the size has always been in the title. Sorry if it wasn't in the body.

Sorry. I missed that. Just do the other stuff then. And ebay is not good for selling fixed gear bikes IMO.
You have to pack it and ship it and the seller has to pay for that. I have never seen fixed gears go for that much on ebay. Just rare and collectable stuff brings good money especially in todays economy.
Good luck.

My daily ride is from home at about 53rd and 35 to campus and back. To the store, friends houses, around. And today's fog at 8am was something awful. Lights on front and back and a care still overlooked me on Red River by that HEB.

So most of the criticism you're getting is a quick fix. Fix it up and you are ready to sell.

Yea I'm probably going to head over to yellow bikes tonight and take out my bb and oil it up and everything.

I don't usually commute too much since I live on 29th and I just walk to campus. But when I do ride it's usually at night.. I head downtown, usually through congress, then I go SoCo over to about homeslice and all around.

I don't head so far south anymore since moving to this new house and since I've stopped pedicabbing.

I used to live south of Riverside on the East side. Some nice little hills over on that side and going down Annie till Congress, right at the top of that hill.

Tonight is Pint Night at Gingerman so i expect to be biking downtown tonight.

Yep, much better.

If I wasn't 5,000 miles away I could well have been interested myself :^)

Best of luck with the sale.
