Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Best Tires For Fixie!!!!

I am looking into buying a new set of tires for my fixie. I live in austin and sometimes run over rocks/glass/foreign objects. I need a good puncture resistant tire as well as a light tire that rolls really smooth and has very good cornering stability. Right now I have the czar tires because they come in red. Anybody have any great tire recommendations that come in red?
any input would be greatly appreciated.

if you are interested in red tires...
vittoria has them, continental had them, pariba had them a long time ago.
but this are mainly road tires, and therefore not long lasting.
vittoria randonneurs are good choice...

continental grand prix 4000. comes in red. but if u want better looks, michelin pro race 3 in red looks better, because the center has a black stripe. but i hear the conti GP's are great and pretty puncture resistant. also, a friend has gatorskins and there were a pain to put on, dont know if they are all like that, just an observation. on the otherhand, my conti GP's were a breeze to put on.

I run Specialized Armadillo Elite on my bike. They come in red, and I put in about 2000km last summeer on crappy roads - not a single flat.

If you do skidz, who cares? I'd rather blow out a 20dollar special than a 50 good tire? Keep that in mind!

For that money, try a Continental 4 Seasons in front and a Continental Gatorskin in back.

I didn't see the "come in red" part.

Try Panaracer T-Serv Protex:

oh yeah, for a "fixie" i guess you would be skidding, so i change my suggestion to gatorskin, from the gp 4000. the gatorskins will last a long time and be puncture resistant.

Soma Everwear. They have a red stripe. I use them and I'm in Austin just like you.
