Makin me LOL on the MUP

Today it was +50 degrees and the roadies were on the MUP with tights, booties, full jackets and balaklavas. It was funny.

As opposed to denim testicle huggers, a boutique cotton hoodie with a fixie logo, and flashy sneakers?

blankgen 02-01-09 07:35 PM

Some roadies seem prone to going waaaaay overkill on that stuff but they might have started their rides when it was still in the 30s.

elTwitcho 02-01-09 07:51 PM

Oh.

This. I bet they were riding quite a bit farther than you were.

sleepy 02-01-09 08:13 PM

Wait, were the denim tescticle hugger kids outriding me? Or was it the spandex testicle hugger kids?

peabodypride 02-01-09 08:24 PM

the "roadies" were riding farther than the levis 511s.

sleepy 02-01-09 08:30 PM

Heh.
I ride baggy cut-off dickies.
Or Spandex.
Depends on the circumstances.
Jeans feel comfortable walking around, but they feel crappy on the bike.
Anyone ever have trouble digging a phone outta the denim testicle huggers whilst riding their hipster chariot?
%^cking things suck.

Roadies are such wussies  Balaclava at 50? Are you kidding me?! :twitchy:

kyselad 02-01-09 09:50 PM

Yeah, those dudes have no idea what's going on.
Next time race 'em and show 'em what's up. Let us know how it goes.

roastbeef 02-01-09 09:59 PM

i saw a kid today in lycra and a bib who couldn't have been older than eight. it was awesome.

Dipped in Sauce 02-01-09 10:00 PM

Dropped

edit: double post

Dipped in Sauce 02-01-09 10:01 PM

I dropped a roadie going down hill and uphill while eating a bag of chips, all I heard was gears clicking trying to catch up.

You might be right there, guy. I, in my jersey, shorts and sidi's, only went for a quick 40 mile ride today. I waited until it was warm enough to go out in shorts and a jersey, because I didn't want to carry a bunch of extra clothing.

Great, but the "roadie" who rides daily in his balaclava and windbreaker is going to be in better condition than you who rides a "quick" 40 miles.

LoRoK 02-01-09 10:19 PM

Yes, you are 100% correct, and your **** talking is completely warranted. You are the man.

What's a bib? Do you mean bibs, aka bib shorts?

sleepy 02-02-09 01:41 AM

I'm waiting for the day when all you fixsters are middle-aged brahs rocking all carbon fixie whips with your forty-year old guts hanging over 300 dollar denim testicle huggers struggling up a hill on 40 by 19 gearing on riser bars whilst some 14 year old on retro spandex is kicking your ass and laughing at you on his vintage 10 speed nishiki with genuine steel rims.
Oh what a beautiful day that will be!

LesterOfPuppets 02-02-09 01:58 AM

Hehehee, I know a few riders in PHX dress like that for 50 degrees. 50 degrees for them is like 30 degrees for me...

andre nickatina 02-02-09 02:47 AM

^ co-signed. around mid 50's, i can start to think about dressing as if it was the middle of the summer.

K_phomma 02-02-09 03:24 AM

You guys wear clothes? Amateurs..

At what point did your smugness wear off? Before or after you realized the insignificance of it all?

i dont know your history, but its not like the northwest gets the harshest winters (or the hottest summers)!

Speak for yourself. I guess there isn't much more to do in New Mexico than make fun of people on road bikes?

Wanderer 02-02-09 08:23 AM

Maybe the were up on the crest! I'll bet it was cold up there...

But, at 50, they should have started to peel som of that stuff off...

By the time they get down in the valley, they will be nice and comfy in spandex and jerseys...
