2008 San Jose, new tires or wheelset?
I just purchased a San Jose. Was wondering if i should build up a new road wheel set, or just slap road tires on the stock wheels. Is the stock wheelset good for year round biking? I was thinking the stock wheelset for winter, and something lighter for summer.

Congrats on your purchase. I have an 08 as well and have been very happy with it. I'd replace the tires ASAP. I went with Maxxis Re-Fuse 25s and have been very happy with them. Only missed one day of commuting this winter (6" of snow on the side streets of South Philly kept me from riding). I have found the stock wheels to be very durable (1 fall and 1 crash and they are still fast and true). Though I may get another wheelset by next winter to get me over our next 6" snow day, I also like the idea of having slicks and traction tires at the ready for inclement weather. Enoy.

Stock tires are okay but noisy and slower on the road than slicks. I whacked my stock rear wheel on a bad couple of potholes and it developed a warp that wouldn't come out. Replaced it with a Velocity rim/Formula hub and things have been fine.
