Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

IRO Angus help

I am planning on buying an IRO Angus frameset soon and would like a little help finding some information. The biggest problem I have with my current frame (an old schwinn) is that I get pedal strikes a lot. Does the Angus have high bottom brackets? Also I usually ride a frame in between 50 and 53cm, I hear the Angus runs a bit small, is this correct? I was wondering what the stand over height for 50 and 53 were, I am 5'6" with a 30" inseam. I searched and kinda found a couple half answers, looking for more specific, thank you.

The angus has a very high bottom bracket.

This ought to help you figure out some of your geometry questions. IRO's are just sized differently. I ride a 58 or so normally, and I ride the 59 Angus. The 59 feels a bit smaller than my 58 road bike. If you are really concerned about the sizing, then give Tony a call and ask him which frame is right for you.

I would go with the bigger size on the Angus. I bought an Angus about a month ago and posted a similar question. A couple of people suggested going with the bigger size and they were totally right. I was debating between a 56 and 59 and if had gone with the 56 it would have been too small.

I'm exactly your size, 5'6, with 30 inseam. I rode a 53 (IRO sizing, top tube) frame, no pedal strike, and it fit extremely well. Actual size is 51 seat tube...
