Early 80's SR triathalon butted frame with stoopid long top tube (see short SR stem), old 151 bcd SR Mighty Comp track crank, Mavic rear/Superbe Pro Track front laces to MA40's. Esge mudguards, B17. Campag NR pedals, clips and Marinoni straps. Bad bg for picture!
1937 CCM Road Racer...really a path bike, flip flop hubs...Pashley of the great white north. Accles and Pollock Major Tayor stem.

Finally got some decent pictures of the bike I built up a couple weekends ago. Frame was an impulse craigslist buy, most of the components are stuff I had already. Turned out pretty well, imo.

This is my new build. 70's Raleigh Gran Sport. Tires and bar tape should be on tomorrow. This is my first Fixed gear, I've been riding my single speed converted Fuji Sports 10 for a while and wanted something different. What do you think?

Looking at these pictures now, I realize that the flash or something made the wheels and spokes look rusty. They're not, those are brand new LP18's.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
gidget - Nice conversion, made nicer by the fact you saved a bike that would been crushed and possibly turned into a car part.
I agree with Sheldon and used to joke with him that we were the only two guys on earth who liked Biopace and I also used to run a Biopace on my SS and still use one on my extracyle where the Biopace really shines.
They are actually really easy to tension as all you need to do is find the tightest point in their rotation and back it off just the smallest bit and in practice you are about as likely to drop a chain as you are on any other well adjusted single drive.
If you are a spinner the Biopace can really smooth things out when the rpms get really high and help you develop the ability to run at a higher cadence.
If people have a well developed pedal stroke a Biopace is less likely to benefit them although non round rings are making a come back at a professional level.
Anyways... I was at the co-op tonight and started converting a 1978 Raleigh Super Grand Prix into a fg/ss and should have that done on Saturday so even though it isn't mine I will have to post a few pics as it is a sweet looking bike. It will make a nice fixed gear commuter as it has nice geometry and the ride of these frames is very good.
And I got "new" tyres for my folder... snagged a pair of gently used Marathons for $10.00. Woot !

I don't know, maybe the rings weren't installed in the ideal position or something, but round rings fixed it all up.

They're chrome. Got them from my LBS (Oak Cliff Bicycle Co) for like $15. I think they're Walds (or at least the same factory that they get them from). You can find them on ebay search for "wald fenders" or "shorty fenders". A bit longer would be nice...but their size makes for a clean install because of the simple 1 bolt mount.
Just got the bike together and haven't ridden on wet roads yet. I'm guessing they won't keep spray off my back at higher speeds but at the very least I think they'll help keep my lower headset, handlebars/hands and bottom of the saddle dry. I need to flip the front fender around I think...
