Warning: Ordering from European Online Stores

Several people in the road forum, including myself, have had their credit card info compromised after ordering from online companies. For me it was PBK.

Here's the link to the thread to see what stores are causing the most issues.

I had no idea there was a link, but I ordered from PBK, and then got some random charges from 3 online music stores. Had no idea where the card got comprimised, but it was RIGHT after a PBK order.

Damnit, I just placed another order with them....

Yep, same here. After the PBK order, my statement showed a bunch of random charges, closed my card and am waiting for the pending charges to stay or clear, per BofA's instructions.

So has anyone been ripped by TotalCycling yet? It looks like any overseas transaction should be considered vulnerable at this point, but I just want to check.

Yeah I keep a separate account for online transactions that never has much in it so I'm not too worried. Nevertheless, I'm checking it anyway and it is still good.

That's exactly what I just started.

In looking at previous statements, in the last thirty minutes, it seems the charges only started right after the PBK order.

Okay boys - this is not related to your bike site purchases. There has been a breach of security over credit card info, here's the story: https://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/...y-breach_N.htm

I ordered a ton of stuff from Wiggle last month to redo my cross bike's drivetrain. Great prices and 4 days shipped from the UK to Philadelphia. I also just placed an order from PBK on Sunday and I received a shipping notification from them today. I hear that TotalCycling is having problems right now; best to avoid them until the dust settles.

I don't know Nickatina, another article says it started in 2008, but I and the others who started getting the charges didn't notice these until after the recent purchases from the suspected online stores.

I've had some unauthorized iTunes **** try and pass through on my debit card and I've ordered from PBK recently. So after reading this thread, I went back to check my history and it turns out that I bought my stuff with my credit card, rather than my debit card. I wonder if this is a case of thinking that you've found the cause when you've only really found a coincidence.

In January, I had over $50 worth of unauthorized charges from Itunes and Amazon. The only European shop I've ordered from was Wiggle back in November... I wonder if it was related? Anyways, it sucks. I hope all of you get it sorted out.

I ordered from PBK on 3/1/09. It's now two days later, and there's no extra charges on the credit card. I did get an email from the credit card company, they put a hold on my card until I verified the PBK purchase was legitimate. It was unusual activity for me, so it makes sense for them to check it.

just a note, what people will do is put small charges on your card. .99 to 2.00 to test the card is valid, then they auction off the card and info off on the black market. then the real terror starts.

I bought stuff from PBK in November on my mom's card. And then yesterday my parent's were informed of fraudulent spending. On another card.

I'm thinking coincidence/third party interference.

I ordered from both totalcycling.com and bike24.com and didn't have any fraudulent charges. That said, my bank sent me a new card about a week ago because someone had stolen a bunch of info from them somehow. After reading this, I activated my new card.
