Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Which doubles should I get?

I just donated my Toshi doubles to a friend who had his bike stolen. I need to get a new set ASAP. I was gonna get the Toshi's again but had a thought and said "self, maybe you should try the Alphas this time".

Any thought as to which would be the better of the two? Just curious.

you may want to consider the all city's.

note: i don't know how well they work myself. my gf just got a pair; has been riding them since wed (one day in rain) and likes them so far, but four days doesn't say much. they seem relatively beefy; thicker than typical junk anyway... straps are nice and long for cutting down.
here:
ALL CITY double toe straps: junk/not junk?

Putting it lightly. They started to separate as I was threading them through my pedals. They lasted approximatley 50 days before they turned to dust. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I'll never recommend them to anyone now...
