Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Don't the officials check the glue before they let the riders on the track anymore?

He's just embarrassed because his hipster Aerospoke let him down. I like the MASH style, fishtail in pic 3.

I've never had a problem with the Tufo tape.

What's your experience?

That guy knows how to fall and I'm not being sarcastic. I think most of us would instinctively put our hands down to absorb the fall but that can break your wrists. I broke my arm that way but it was on a skateboard not on a bike.

no personal experience, but a few reports from friends and forums posts that have described rolling while racing cx on tufo tape and have switched over (or back) to vittoria glue with no trouble.

Using Tufo tape while racing 'cross is a whole different animal - tape doesn't like water one bit. I would never use Tufo tape for cyclocross, heard too many horror stories.

It also depends on the tubular's base tape - for example, Vittoria base tape is impregnated with glue, which doesn't mix well with Tufo tape. Tufo only recommends using their tape on their tires because the base tape is untreated. I've had good results using Tufo tape with Conti tires, though.
