Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hail storm in Philly, anyone get caught in it?

So, did any of you Philly riders get caught in that short but painful hail storm we had just about an hour or so ago? I was in m home and heard some girls screaming, I ran to the door and saw a few girls running for their car, they were getting plummeted by nice size pieces of hail!

We got somewhere between 10-15 minutes of crazy hail then lots of rain right after.

i was out on a ride with a few friends about a year ago and we got stuck in a storm with dime sized hail. Needless to say, hail hurts like hell when you're moving fast trying to get to the nearest place you could hide under.

We got tons of hail in the Reading, PA area. I was at work (at a restaurant) and the people eating there were panicking. Some kid attempted to go outside to get to his car and he had marks all up and down his arm just from opening the door. haha.

i guess i'm glad we only got a lot of rain in Scranton. i was out riding in it. that would have suck getting pelted with hail instead of crazy rain.

I almost did. I had my cleats on and was getting my bag to head for the grocery store and then I heard the hail beating on my door and window and kiboshed that plan fast.
