Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

23T cog

Yes, it's me again... one question:

Does a 23T cog make you pedal faster/make it easier to pedal?

Do you understand how gearing works? If you have a 49-21, and you're going to a 49-23, then yes, your cadence will be faster and it'll be easier for you to go up hills. Mechanical advantage. Fascinating thing it is.

It depends on your chainring..

I ride a 46-16, if i put on a 17t or 18t or anything bigger, it would become easier to peddle and go up hills, but you would spin out sooner too..

so if your current cog is smaller than a 23t, then yes it will be easier to peddle
if it is 24t or above then it will be harder to peddle, but you will go faster at the same rpm's

read about it on sheldon brown's site

If you're trolling: Go away.

If you're serious: Go away. And read everything on Sheldon Brown's website. Twice.

Yeah, sheldon's gear calculator is your friend.

Or you could just HTFU.
