does anyone have experience with this?

if so pros and cons for it. it is going to be used on track drops.

Do a search for Velo-orange elkhide bar wrap. Several people on BF have it.

It's good stuff. It's soft and scuffs easily but only looks better as it ages. I recommend cloth tape underneath.

Fuggers, is that their special $15 ones for bullhorns, or the regular ones cut short?

It is the cheaper of the pair. They were plenty long enough for bullhorns.

It's time consuming but not hard to do.

do they make it in black?

All you have to do is click on the link provided above to find out for yourself. If you had, you would see that it's now offered in only three colors - "macchiato (honey), espresso, and black". Used to be in a yellow (they called it gold) and white. The white probably would have been kind of cool, but probably would have gotten really dirty and discolored. I have the honey colored wrap on my LHT, it starts out a little light but once you apply a bit of proof hide it's a dead ringer for the honey colored Brooks saddles.

The only problem I've had with mine is that it seemed to "creep" up from the bottom of my drops. It looks a bit ratty, but in a sort of good "lived in" sort of way. Still, I would recommend applying some extra double sided tape to make sure it sticks in place if you do yours. I will on my next wrap. Otherwise, bar plugs.

Also, I don't really think you need any kind of cloth tape under neath. The leather is pretty thick and very comfortable. I've done all day rides on some rough gravel roads and had no hand pain whatsoever. YMMV, but I feel this stuff is fine with out it.

Finally, it looks REALLY cool when it starts to get dirty and darken from your most common hand positions.

I have ridden on the same leather wrap for going on four years!

This stuff is awesome! It is a time consuming to put on and does require periodic maintenance (oiling, proof hide etc.) but is well worth the effort.

It does kind of creep around on the bar. I did not put any clothe tape underneath. I would try that next time.

I do have a couple of zip ties at the top of my bar to keep it from sliding down. Tha seems to work great!

I find them extremely comfortable and the scuffs/wear only make it look better with time. I used cloth tape underneath just so the tape would stil to something not as slick as bare metal.

The only con in my eyes (it's almost not even a con) is that they do take a few hours to stitch together, but I was watching a DVD while doing it so no biggie.

I bought the regular ones and cut them once I was finished. I used the left over (which was quite a bit) for my g/f's townie. Great stuff and highly recommended.
