Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I'm in the market for a commuter bike (round trip of ten miles) and want something fun, sturdy and around about the 500 mark (preferably with flat/riser bars, or enough under budget to accommodate putting these on).

I have searched the forums and read many threads about various bikes in this bracket, but want to have some opinions on my options, I am contemplating things like the plug freestyler, langster, paddy wagon and curbside (or anything else you can recommend?)

As I say, my commute is quite flat and a ten mile round trip, I have somewhere to lock up the bike at work and will only use in fine weather. So, what should I spend my hard earned on?

Thanks in advance!!!!
