Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey, do those shoes have a 3-hole and a 2-hole cleat pattern on the bottom, or just 3-hole? The step below these without the strap have both...

edited: just found out they have both! sorry.

I ended up getting the Shimano RO86 shoes rather than the cheaper RO76 because of the strap ratcheting system. I'm not sure if it is worth it or not but I'll soon find out. Running these on DuraAce PD7800 pedals, and I'm interested to see if it disengages during skidding.

Some new oury grips, a 50mm thomson stem, and some easton risers to replace my bullhorns. Also a new izumi gold track chain and a 19T EAI cog. Some new soma everwears too yay.

I got mono a little while ago so I haven't been riding at all for about a month... figured some new toys would get me back in the saddle fast

The black one

Grip tape, black

A box of inner tubes to go inside 3 Gatorskins, 2 sizes to test on....

...a pair of Velocity "Aero" rims in silver (that they were kind enough to deliver to me directly as I couldn't source a supplier) that I'll take with my Dura Ace 7600's to Kalavinka to lace up this weekend.
Then I'm back on the road!

Exactly, I've been running a front brake for a while. I love the SPD-SL's pedals and cleats, I'm never going back to clips unless I'm running brakeless. I've been able to skid longer than before, while seated too. my shoes are literally bolted onto the pedals. no problems whip skidding either.

I totally understand the logic, i run clipless too, i just went with the time atacs. I just wastn't willing to experience it unclipping during a skid, seems like it could cause a crash.

I run clipless, have never had an accidental unclip in the two months I've had them and I still wouldn't trust them as my only form of braking. There's something disconcerting about the way you pop in or out, while with straps it's a bit reassuring to know "the only way I'm getting out of these is to slide my foot out the back".

Correct. I'm in Tokyo at the moment & of course there are more Deep V's than you can poke a BF cynic at & Aeroheads too but no Aeros, I couldn't find anyone who stocks them. I'm quite taken by them & wanted to give them a go. I explained myself & once I didn't get a response from their suggestion, they were more than happy to process an order.
