Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? hah, i'm sorry man, but it's kinda ironic for me to hear you talking about tires reducing rotational weight when you're running deep v's

edit: not to put you down though, it's great you're considering these elements of your ride, more people should, just thought it was a little silly =P

Yeah, I know, but one step at a time. I got the tires last week, and I plan to rebuild the wheels over the winter with lighter spokes and Sun Assault rims. The deep v rims are what came stock, so I didn't have any say in it.

Found a really cool old crankset for my Raleigh...

It's a White Industries 22-34-46. Just ordered a killer set of all black Salsa chainrings for it, and will post another pic when they come in.

Bought a new tube finally at a local shop here in Changwon. The guys in the shop recognized me from the local fixed gear blog. It was weird.

Tektro R720 front

My cheapo brake caliper cinch-bolt finally stripped all the way after constant adjusting/fiddling. I could have just bought a new bolt but then I would have been right back where I was so I figured it was a good time for an upgrade. I hardly ever use it and was thinking of going brakeless altogether until I was riding home from work today (with a non-functioning brake), got cut off by some aggro old dude in a Miata (reallly? a Miata???), went to hit my brake and obviously...nothing happened. I managed to save my ass and ordered a good brake right when I got home. I've got an amazing wife, a little Scrod on the way and no desire to be taken out by some ******* in a Miata.

I'm a newbie to the site but I just got a 39t chainring on my 2007 Jamis Sputnik and it has made all the difference in the world. I don't dread the inclines and wind like I used to. Life is good.

Won in an alleycat:

Affinity lo pro front fork.

Miche track chain ring.

I've been tempted for a long time to build up a lo pro frame as a winter project. In fact, I was even thinking of using a Miche group set. Is this a sign?

A bigger chainring. 75.6GI just wasn't doing it for me. May have to go even bigger once I build lighter wheels.

Just got the new Planet Bike Blaze 2 watt headlight and am going out to put it to the test thinking the run time on Nimh rechargeables will exceed the stated 4/8/15 hour run times that are based on alkaline cells.
