Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

LOL. The example sentence they use is absolutely hilarious.

"...Casey was now face to face with a real grotch, and it became apparent to him that Shaun hadn't showered in nearly a year. "

wtf?

You guys are such trolls for thinking that you have some ownership over "fixed gear". News flash: it was here before you and will be here after you're gone. You can't control some things. And go ahead and flame me for saying it, I don't care. I'm done even visiting such a narrow minded forum.

huh? Last time I checked, we were making fun of the ridiculous fashion spread, not fixed gear bikes or culture. Is there something I'm not aware of?

See little boys and girls? That is why it is good to read before you blindly post misinformed comments.

While I admit that I am really new to the cycling scene, I would never find anything like this dude's half grimace outfit to be "cool". Plus I don't feel insecure cuz I'm too fat to be a hipster and I don't snort coke, but I do drink PBR (out of necessity cuz I'm broke). So in conclusion who gives a flying f-duck if some d-bags come out w/ ridiculous looking schnizz like this.

I remember reading identical treads in 05 when the Puma book was for sale. Classic.

Um, they're models. They're supposed to look ridiculous. Really really ridiculous. *blue steel*

90% of this forum is here because of the "trend". But who cares? I wish it would catch on even more so that more people would start riding. This means the city will HAVE to get some decent bike lanes.

I'd start worrying when fixed gears become available at places like walmart and target.

This summer I'm converting my fixed gear into a 48/38/24 chainring & 11-34 cassette touring bike. I've already bought all the parts. I'll convert back for the winters.
