Build question: Road vs BMX cranks
So while I'm waiting for my bones to heal after my accident I'm beginning to "window" shop online to build the new bike.
So I'm looking at single ring crankset options and I started to look at BMX cranksets.
But looking at most BMX cranks, the idea of just one bolt turning the ring, as opposed to a 5-arm road/track crank, makes me wonder about the physics of it all while under stress.
Can y'all see what I'm getting at? Anyone a physics nut on here? Is any option really more efficient than the other when it comes to cranking with all your might? Torsion? Flex?

Yeah man, most of the hardcore BMX'ers out there are totally switching to road cranks because of all the single-bolt failures.......
The only issue with bmx cranks is the wide q-factor, and the weight. Unless you're doing some hefty hefty hefty riding, you need not the extra strength of a one-piece chainwheel.
