Agreed...I've used Alex rims with several wheelsets and have never been disappointed. They are commonly regarded as inferior rims because they usually come stock on poorly made machine built wheels. However, that is not the fault of the rim. Alex rims often cost less than half that of other brands and in my experience are just as good or better.

The OC is the one which had the sidewall fall apart. In actual distance - I'd guess that rim lasted less than 5000 KM.

The reason it doesn't need eyelets is because the rim bed is strong enough to support the nipples. Let's also ignore the fact that cxp33's have a rimd epth of 23,5 instead of 30mm for the deep v's. And THEN you're calling heavy?
Give. me. a. ****ing. break.

You seem to inference that despite the Deep-Vs not having eyelets, and the CXP-33s having eyelets, they're equally as strong.
So, if they're equal in strength, then the fact is, despite the equal strength of the rim, the CXP-33s are lighter by 176 grams per wheelset, which is ~0.4 lb.
That's also assuming they're equal in quality, which I would argue they are unequivocally not. The CXP-33 is a much nicer rim than the Deep-V. In what you quoted, my (2) was meant as "Even without eyelets..." to address the quality issue.

You seem to be arguing that: Deep-Vs don't need eyelets by virtue of the rim depth. Additionally, they're 30mm deep vs. the 23,5mm depth of the CXP-33s, which is why the CXP-33s need eyelets.

I've seen a deep v with a broken spoke that wasn't even out of true. The deep v's have questionable build quality (gap at the seam anyone?) and weigh more than boat anchors, but precisely because of the 30mm rim depth they are extremely strong.
Come on, CXP 33's?
Garbage.

Most of Velocity's rims don't use eyelets, that's one of their things. I think only their box rim does. There's a world of debate on the benifit/uselessness of eyelets.
