Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Where do I get a fixed gear that I can coast on?

Be a good way to sweat off some pounds, careening through red lights at busy intersections. Seriously, though, he's will to *rent* one? No in in Chitown has a beater they want to rent to pay off some new hubs?

Funny you should mention that, I saw someone on the trail the other day with that exact setup, coasting without brakes...

And a friend of mine who used to courier in Chicago 10 years ago noticed all of the other messengers riding without brakes, so he took his off... Needless to say that lasted one day before he put the brakes back on.

you people need to brush up on your fixed gear history.

kevin bacon rode a fixed gear in Quicksilver, and he's shown coasting in several places throughout the movie.
