Component suggestions
Hey I just ordered an 08 Schwinn Madison (the light blue one) from my shop I work at and am planning to sell all the parts off it and sell my old fixed to totally build this up but I need some suggestions on a couple of components:
Wheels: I am building a pair of white 32H Deep-V's but I am not sure on which hubs I should use. I am between the Surly hubs or Miche Hubs. Both are within $4 of the other so price doesnt matter just am looking for reviews on either or which one you guys recommend. Crank: I have no idea what I want to do with the cranks. The options I am looking at are the SRAM Omnium, Miche Primato, FSA Carbon Track these are all within $15 of each other pretty much and for about $25 more than the most expensive out of that group I could get Sugino 75's w/o BB. I kinda like the idea of the external BB of the Omnium but I'm not sure if it would ruin the look of such a classic looking bike. Thanks, Greg |
i suggest against white deep rims.

Miche hubs and cranks, can't go wrong. I've used em for a while and they go together well.

Replacing the stock cranks is a pretty bad idea, unless you are into replacing parts for very, very marginal gain while paying big money.

And as far as hubs I'm kinda leaning towards the Miche's but cant find any dimensions on them for spoke lengths and such which is why I like the Surlys because of their ease of finding information and such. Anyone know the dimensions or want to talk me out of it or into another set of hubs? Thanks, Greg |
