Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fastest you've gone on your bike?

I did a 12 mile ride yesterday and managed to hit 25.5mph on a 48/18 setup with no elevation decline. Not sure how accurate that is but it's based on the GPS/speedometer gauge on my phone.

What's the fastest you've done?

edit: argh, just did a search and there's already a thread about this. How do you delete?

32 seems to be pretty popular on flat... That's my best so far as well.

I got 37 on a flat with a wicked tail wind once. I mean SICK tailwind. Steady flying past cars. And another time without my computer (I had switched it to my road bike) I hit what felt faster than the previous 42.42 MPH top speed on a way smaller hill with another sick tailwind. I was flying past cars on a 40 MPH speed limit road, and in this town I'd be surprised if they were adhering strictly to the limit. But, I didn't have my computer so I'll never know.

28.7 is the max on my computer and the fastest i've gone on my conversion. 52x19 gearing. i could have probably hit 30 but i ran out of road (was a short bit in a business park where i didn't have to worry about running stop signs and what not. guess i don't have street creds)

didn't have a computer yet when i was on my lynskey, but i was on a downhill on a road where people usually do ~40 and I wasn't having anyone pass me up. thought the road was empty until i started slowing down and saw i was ahead of the pack of cars and going about the same speed. guessing i was doing maybe 37-38
