Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? This probably isn't the expected answer, but the Cinelli is very expensive. You might seriously consider ordering a frame from a British Frame builder such as Woodrup or Jackson. They can do all the chrome you need. And the price would be more like 50-60 pounds i.e. around $1000 by the time you shipped it. You could also try Chesini, on the Italian front. Last I heard, you would be looking at a similar total for one of their frames.

yeah, I'm aware the Cinelli framesets/bikes are very expensive but

1) I don't own a car and never will
2) don't even have health insurance so no high premiums on all that crap

ah the joys of being an american

I saw someone riding a new cinelli Pista in san francisco a few weeks ago....and i knew I fell in love

would love to get one! Might just have to order online it looks like, hate doing that --- would rather support the LBS but nobody carrys them and I've been poking around for weeks

Ok then, it sounds like you are set on the Cinelli. I don't blame you. One of my best riding chums has a red Super Corsa. It's so pretty...

if you buy that thing and are unfortunate enough to get into an accident, not only do you not have health insurance to pay your hospital bill, you won't have the money to pay it plus your expensive as balls frame will be gone.

I don't blame you at all. I don't ride fixed, but I know if I lost my health insurance I would continue to ride. There is always some sort of risk involved in life, just be careful.

Congrats on your purchase, i'm sure it's going to be nice. Do you have a stock photo of what you got?

I think the local builder option is really great, and there are a lot of really talented builders. Part of buying a Cinelli frame is the decal that shows you bought a Cinelli frame. Not that that is wrong at all or exclusive to bicycles. I don't have the money for either so I don't worry about it.

Local builder wait times can be pretty long too, 6-8 weeks is not very long by comparison. So if you are in a hurry that could be a factor.
