Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

A friend has one, nice solid bike. Good bike if you can get a deal on it.

My friend also has one, he likes it. Plenty of room for fenders and racks. Beware of the cog slipping though, make sure it is tight (only if you are riding it fixed).

I had one for about 8 months. It was a 2007 I picked up for $300 in really good shape.
I liked the ride, it was comfy but handled well. My tastes changed and I wanted something else, how unusual huh.
It's not quick handling like a track bike but it all depends on what you like.

As mentioned, if you can get a good deal go for it. It comes with decent parts. I changed some of the parts on mine as you can see.
