Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Just finished riding my first Fixed gear and Velodrome!

I live in South Florida, home to one of the only velodromes in the south east USA Brian Piccolo. So after reading on SS/Fixed gear section of this forum a lot I thoght I should go to the velodrome and rent a fixed gear and try it. I got one of my buddies that big into Mt. biking to come with me and try it out. It took a lot of getting used to, the whole not coasting and no brakes thing. When we got that down there was no stopping us. We were having a blast.

me

the bike I rented for $5

+1 to curved seat tubes ... especially when you can get the rear tire clearance really low. I think it looks slick. If I could make a custom steel bike it would have this feature.

looks like a pretty standard pedal (mks-track-ish) with steel clips and black (nylon?) straps
