lockring/cog spun off. what am i doing wrong

This weekend I started doing some skids, next thing I know my fixed gear is no longer fixed. The lockring spun off along with the cog. Tightened it up, was riding yesterday go for a quick skid and it instantly backs off. Checked the threads on the lockring and they are toast and stripped.

I think tis a lockring from a windsor the hour, but are lockrings something that are replaced often, is this normal, or what the hell could be the issue here? Im thinknig maybe not tightened down initially enough. I know it was on the right way if I put it on

first, did you put the cog/lockring on the fixed side or the freewheel side? The fixed side has one set of threads going clockwise (for the cog) and threads on the outside going counterclockwise (for the lockring). unless the threads are totally stripped, there is no way they can spin off together.

I'll bet a large wager that you put the cog and lockring on the freewheel side of your hub (did you screw the lockring and hub on in the same direction?)

I'll bet even more money he didn't, since a lockring is reverse threaded and shouldn't even mesh with the freewheel threads.

Sounds like the threads are damaged. Perhaps the cog and lockring were not properly installed in the first place.

Your cog/lockring were not properly tightened to begin with.
Now your hub is ruined.
You need a new hub and most likely cog/lockring as well.
