Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Denver Newspaper Cartoon Caricatures of Bike Riders

Here's the link: http://blogs.westword.com/latestword...mers_ter_1.php

There's a lot of anti bike sentiment going around this month in Denver for some reason.

The bad thing is, they aren't even funny. And the style of drawing is gross.

I'm gonna have to look into one of these "fixed wheel" bikes. Doesn't sound very efficient, but if it'll make me cool...

Well, don't take my word for it. I think most newspaper cartoons are epically not funny. Not just this one.

I kinda like the sound of 'Fixie Pixie.' Maybe I should start a gay interest cycling group with that name, or something.

They did get the inverted risers, Oury Grips, ornamental Deep Vs, brakeless, iPhone, Chucks, rolled skinnies, and brakeless right.

I don't doubt this person is fairly spot on in the observation. But he forgot the humor part of observational humor.

Also, the chainring is fairly mysterious in that picture as well.

I like it. I just like anyone who makes fun of hipsters. I think it's good to spread the word that ehy are worthless. They (in general) suck the big one.

Here's what pisses me off about hipsters: they like deck themselves out in cycling stuff, and then they aren't friendly to other cyclists. Plus, every time I try and pass a hipster they speed up and then it's just awkward becuase then I end up passing them again. Meanwhile, they don't say anything or smile or wave or nod or anything.

I have a few friends that I consider hipsters that are OK in my book, but most of the hipsters I know suck.

Devilshaircut: Hipsters ARE the joke.

Tell Jerry Seinfeld that.

I wouldn't expect you to understand about the hipster thing b/c, no offense, but you kind of seem like you might be one. But at least you're talkative and nice.

No, I agree with devilshaircut, the guy was attempting observational humor, but failed. Also, I've drawn better looking things while holding a marker with my sphincter.

yeah I don't know exactly how something goes from being observational to observational humor, but I do think he was at least trying to make a joke.
