the geometry on a track bike will be "steeper" it will have you more hunched over in a more agressive position. Commuter geometry will be more upright.

a track bike will also eliminate "unnecessary" items such as cable stops, water bottle bosses (in most cases), and rack/fender mounts, while a commuter will retain all of these...
not to mention a commuter frames most times will support wider tires (for snow and dirt) more so than a track frame

Huh? How does the frame make the rider more "hunched over" in this case? Steeper generally has to do with headtube and seat tube angles-- which affect how far over or behind the bb you are, and how it handles (steering). You could still ride it quite upright if you wanted to. Also, the bb will be a bit higher on a proper track bike.

yeah I guess if you put some risers on a track bike you could still ride it upright...but what kind of an idiot would do that??

i ride a fixed commuter frame for fun. i guess what im asking is how would it benefit me to have a track frame rather than a commuter frame

I think the biggest difference would be in handling and responsiveness. A track frame would most likely feel more responsive when accelerating (shorter chainstay length). The handling would feel more "twitchy" in a track frame (less fork rake).

The differance is this, if your going to ride on the street convert a road frame, if your going to ride track, get a track frame, dont believe me? switch it around, when you feel super uncomfortable riding either or you can go ahead and try it the right way.
