Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

12 Speed conversion?

Hello all!

I am interested in starting to ride a fixed gear around town and such (I live in Albany, NY). I have an 80s 12 speed Windsprinter road bike sitting in my shed.

Would this be a good bike to convert? or should I look around craigslist for another bike?

Thanks!
Kazz

thats an old huffy road bike, eh? its not going to be a great frame to convert. try making it single speed with the stuff that's already on it and see if you like riding it as much as you think you might. then look for a nicer frame to build up a fixed gear.

most of all, have fun
