Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Shimano 105 FC-1055 cranks

Just wondering if anyones running these setup as fixed. For a standard double chainline (46mm outer ring) they use a 113mm bottom bracket. My question is... Anyone running these with a 107mm bottom bracket and how close is it to 42mm? Cheers.

so: if the outer ring is at 46mm with a 113 bottom bracket, you can calculate where it will be with a 107mm bottom bracket. here's how:

subtract 107 from 113 to get the difference. the answer is 6.

divide 6 in half. you get 3. three millimeters. the reason you divide it in half is because you are taking length off from both sides of the spindle.

next, subtract 3 from 46. the answer is 43 millimeters.

next, subtract 42 from 43, and the answer is 1 millimeter.

so: how close is it to 42? 1 millimeter.

I run 105 cranks. With the 113mm spindle. Put the chainring on the inside and all is good.
