I have always loved Cannondale frames and that was the only reason I was willing to spend $800 when I bought my 2008 Capo. I felt like that price was steep then and considered other brands. Now seeing the price doubled two years later makes me glad I bought one when I did. I could not talk myself into spending $1600 on a fixed gear.

I think Cannondale just needs to rerelease the 90's frame to satisfy the hipsters that crave it's uber-rough ride and looks (I admit I do love the looks). Then they can bring the Capo back to something that makes sense to ride on the road.
Right now it's the best of neither worlds.

cannondale's doing exactly what any smart manufacturer whose line does not depend entirely on a SS/FG frame should be doing.

I agree Scott, I have a early 90's black lightning frame. I would have to put an Enos hub on it but could still convert it a lot cheaper then $1600.

are you ****ing kidding me? you guys must not know how **** works i guess? there are several workers in that pennsylvania factory who's skilled trade is WELDING STEEL BICYCLE FRAMES. when production moves overseas, yes, that means cheaper quality, and it also means those guys no longer have jobs and have to start their life over and find an entirely new trade. the mayor of the town came out to protest the cannondale move and the new owner flat out didn't give a ****. you live in this country, support it by not giving all your money to china. ******* like you are the reason we're in a recession.

it's not even worth it to start an argument. everyone except me is correct in every aspect.

I am not trying to argue for either side so do not get mad. I would prefer that Americans have these jobs, but don't you think there are equally skilled people on other countries that care about their jobs just as much if not more then people in the US. I don't really know whats going on in this factories but it is hard for me to believe that all this companies would be willing to move production if the work preformed is not close comparable to what is preformed in the US. It sucks these people are loosing their jobs, but it was really inevitable.

Does any one know if they are still going to build their high end carbon bikes in the US?

I love Cannondale an inordinate amount, but this bike sucks. The only upside is there were will be a flood of cheap Mavic Ellipse wheels coming onto the market as idiots "upgrade" to pink deep V's.

Also, Cannondale has already begun shifting manufacturing to Asia, and not just on their cheap hybrids. As I was informed by our Cannondale rep, Asia will make the carbon frames as well as the mid-range aluminum frames. So the CAAD8, which Cannondale reintroduced (in name only, IMO), is to be made in Asia, while CAAD9 production as well as some of the high-end aluminum hardtails, will remain in the United States for the foreseeable future. The Capo is going to fall in the mid-range spectrum and be made overseas shortly. I would expect to see some 2010 Capos from Asia, and some from America.
