Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

New singlespeed recommendations?

I am a newbie to the forum, but I was hoping I could get some recommendations from seasoned riders. What is the best new singlespeed on the market right now (reasonably prices also)? I've noticed a ton of new singlespeed/fixed gear bikes for sale on the internet these days, but I don't know who has the quality goods. I live in Portland and it is rainy and hilly, so I want something that would be able to handle the terrain well. Any ideas and info would be appreciated!!

for the rain, make sure that you have something that fits fenders. for the hills, push a light gear.
Bikesdirect.com would be a good place to start for bikes in the 300-400 USD range.
