Pedals for my Singlespeed

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Specialized Tricross singlespeed for my college commuter. I am looking to make riding both enjoyable and convenient. I am thinking about picking up some clipless pedals to deter thieves from stealing my bike. (To complement my Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit u-lock)

Currently, I have Shimano PD-M520-L mountain pedals and Specialized mountain shoes for my Allez roadie. I want something that would potentially deter thieves due to the difficulty of riding away. My LBS recommended Crank Brothers Egg Beaters for the quality and unattractiveness to thieves. I plan on switching shoes upon arrival to class, so I'll be able to carry my bike shoes in my backpack.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

$5 of tape, a couple ball bearings and bit of glue will probably do more good than switching from mtb clipless to egbeaters. IMO if a thief sees clipless, they see a bike that didn't come from K-mart and is probably worth at least a hundred bucks, making it an instant target.

egg beaters are an ass to ride with regular shoes.
they're slippery and make your foot roll right off.

these are probably the worst for improper shoes: http://www.aerolitepedals.com/products.htm

if you make it into a fixed gear, with either of those pedals, it will be extremely hard for anyone without the proper cleats to ride it off.
