Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The OPs video were the most impressive tricks I've seen on a fixed gear that wasn't art cycling.

yea, i don't really get into fixed gear tricks like that either. his style looks alot smoother and cleaner than most. most fixed gear tricks look all sketchy like they always just barely land their tricks. his were not though.

I never understood why someone would want to do tricks on a fixed gear, they were not designed for that kind of abuse. Forks are pretty skinny, tires are pumped up to 120psi, the wheels are pretty flimsy. Just buy a BMX bike for tricks, or use the fixie just to ride it like it was meant to be.

Bikes are ment for riding, not tricks. Doing tricks make them a novelty, like a skateboard.

Is this the part of the thread where we argue that fixed gear tricks are way less impressive than a half-decent BMX rider? Or should that wait till page 2?

Oh I know. Dude is ****ing amazing. That said, the "lol first time on fixed" subject line got me wrong at 7:00 AM. I think the video's quite OK, actually, and the rider himself fantastic.
