Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Haha I go to Purdue

there was a guy with a red frame and red deep veeee's last year working for Jimmy Johns

I think I might have saw your bike while moving in this year. Either you went right infront of my car or your bike was chained on the side, is your frame stickered?

Hey Lionsheart, I live across the river in Lafayette and go to Purdue. I zip around campus on my FG, commuting around to classes, etc.

This thread is actually very revealing to me. Since joining I often wondered about the endless posts that go something like "I've got 39 cents and want a fixed gear. Who can tell me where to get it?" or questions that essentially ask "How do I get something for nothing?" Hell, you're college kids. Got it. Explains everything. I have to go back a few years to remember when I studied by my whale fat fueled lamp, used to go to the park to pick up pigeon feathers to use as an ink well pen and stuff like that but I now get it. So many questions answered. My faith in humanity is restored.

In my case, I retired from Trucking and went to college to get my Psych degree and change careers. I'm an old fart of nearly 50 in college.

I delivered at Jimmy Johns in Gainesville for a year by bike. Probably the best job I've ever had. I did it on a geared bike, but either way you'll enjoy it. Gamedays I made bank. Bike is really the only way to get around then in G'ville, I dunno what it is like there. Good luck and ride safe.

I think pretty much everyone on the fixed gear section of bikeforums works at the jimmy johns in lafayette. this is pretty much a requirement of membership here.
